Welcome to the various guides on how to use KelseyNet features!
Introduction
What is KelseyNet?
The Kelsey Network is a collection of productivity and communication tools that (mostly) share a single account. Ideally, you can log into the network in one place and use all available features.
I originally set up these systems as a way to slowly migrate my presence off of the big tech companies, and since I already have it running it's not much more effort to bring in more people using it.
Available Software
-
Nextcloud (homepage) is a file-sharing and productivity 'groupware' suite. It fills the role of replacing:
- Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox, as it allows you to keep your documents, photos and precious data safe,
- Google Photos, as you can auto-backup from your phone, create shared (and public) albums and access them from anywhere.
- Office 365, as it includes the ability to edit documents right in your browser and have them save to the cloud.
- Google Calendar, as it lets you set up and share calendars with other KelseyNet members, and sync them to your phone.
-
Matrix is a federated, decentralised system that is mainly used for chat, and is used by several European governments. It fills the niches of:
- Telegram, Whatsapp and Messenger, as the ElementX app lets you chat with anyone and create private rooms.
- Skype and Jitsi, as you can use the apps or web client to start voice and video chats with anyone.
